Whether sifting through sand, or scrambling over a rocky shore, it's about finding treasures in every day.

Boy Deer

Yep, there have been a number of deer posts lately. That means that I haven't run into any bears while out and about, and that is a good. I'll try to find you some bears later in the season when they aren't as grouchy.

This little buck says hello.

Sitka Blacktail buck in spring.

Those little vertical lines in the background? It's raining. Some more. We had a nice stretch of dry weather, and now it is back to normal.

This guy isn't very old. He has lost his short baby-face, but he's still pretty light in the body. When he loses the rest of his winter hair he is going to look skinny. I'm guessing he is a two year old. Difficult to tell,  though.

Shedding itches!

Speaking of winter hair, the stuff is starting to show up on the ground and caught on branches.

I wish my neck was that flexible.

Proof positive that it is not hunting season; he's really not too concerned.  He's back to the serious business of chowing down so that he can fatten up and build this year's antlers. Gotta keep at it - girl deer are going to get pretty interesting in a few months.

I want to go pet his soft ears...

...but he is having none of that noise.

Maybe we will see him later in the season. In the meantime grab your raingear, head out, and play in the rain,
